New Community Education & Wellness Classes Now Offered at Casa Colina Hospital
Pomona, CA… A series of community education and wellness classes are scheduled to begin this summer 2006 at Casa Colina Hospital. All classes are designed and presented by Casa Colina's clinical staff and are structured to help community members with various health related issues that may involve medical rehabilitation. Sessions scheduled for this summer and fall include the following:

For Adults & Seniors:

Managing Arm & Hand Pain Common types of hand and arm injuries and prevention will be discussed. $35/person July 12 or Oct. 11 from 5:30 to 7 pm

Fall Prevention
Seniors and people with disabilities learn techniques to prevent falls. $20/person Aug. 9 or Oct. 17 from 2:30 to 4 pm

Nutrition Basics For Healthy Eating
Learn about the importance of good nutrition and understanding food labels. $25/person Oct. 4 from 4 to 5 pm

Prenatal Exercise Program
Water and land exercise when you're expecting offers many benefits. Physician's approval required. $150 for a 10-week session. Ongoing series. Call for schedule.

For Children & Their Parents:

After School Activities Program
Children ages six and older with Autism and other related disabilities are invited to a structured activities program. $250/child. Ongoing 8-week sessions held at Children's Services from 3 to 5 pm. Call 909/596-7733, ext. 2216 to schedule a pre-program assessment.

Building Success for Young Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders
Parents, educators and caregivers of children with ASD will learn about suggested guidelines of intervention, definitions of terminology and resources. $30 family/limit 2 July 25 or Sept. 21 from 6:30 to 8 pm

Establishing a Language Enriched Home Environment
Parents of children with communication disorders will learn techniques for building a language-enriched environment. $30 family/limit 2 July 19 or Oct. 23 from 6 to 7:30 pm

What Is Early Intervention and How Can Parents Keep Up?
Parents of children who are at-risk for developmental disabilities will learn about Early Start intervention eligibility. $30 family/limit 2 July 31 or Nov. 6 from 6 to 7:30 pm

For Athletes of All Ages:

Knee Injury Prevention Program
Athletes will be educated about the importance of strength, balance, agility, flexibility and functional stability to prevent sports-related injury. $200/person On-going series of 8 sessions on Tue. and Thur. at 6 pm over a 4-week period

Free Sports Injury Screenings
Athletes of all ages are welcome for a medical screening of sports-related injuries. Every Sunday (except holidays) from 9am to noon at Casa Colina's Sports Medicine Center. No appointments.

For Newborns to Seniors:

Free Hearing Screenings & Hearing Aid Evaluations
All testing is conducted by a licensed Audiologist. Call 909/450-0304.

All Wellness & Education classes are held at the Casa Colina Outpatient Center's Tamkin Education Rooms unless otherwise noted.
