The first annual “Walk & Roll for Casa’s Kids” will bring together children who are served at Casa Colina, their families, neighbors, friends and interested community members, to raise funds to support Casa Colina’s Children’s Services. Children’s Services provides rehabilitative care to children with acquired and/or developmental disabilities and offers programs that include Early Intervention, START (Autism), pediatric clinical therapies and more. The pediatric center is supplemented by the Casa Colina Foundation in the budgeted amount of $250,000 to $350,000 each fiscal year. Funds raised at “Walk & Roll for Casa’s Kids” will be used towards this effort.

Casa Colina’s annual National Ambassador Award will be presented to Margaret Dunkle, Senior Fellow with the Center for Health Services Research & Policy at George Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. Ms. Dunkle’s career is dedicated to issues concerning programs, policies and systems affecting children, families and communities, primarily in Los Angeles County, where she resides. Casa Colina has selected Margaret for her leadership in convening the Los Angeles County Early Identification & Intervention Collaborative, a multi-sector coalition and catalyst to help partner organizations, communities and others to ensure that every child in Los Angeles County gets developmental screenings as early as possible and frequently using high-quality screening tools. Ms. Dunkle also advises the public-private Los Angeles County Children's Planning Council, with an emphasis on data and indicators, services integration and program simplification, connecting local initiatives to federal and national efforts, and school readiness.

Another special recognition will also be made for Casa Colina’s Annual Friend of the Children Award, which will be presented to Ms. Debbie Doan, a previous patient of Casa Colina Children’s Services. Now an adult and residing in Upland, Debbie has been very involved in supporting Casa Colina and its Children's Services for more than 13 years. She plays an active role in helping to develop fundraising events and garner resources for Casa Colina.

The primary activity will be the Walk & Roll Children’s Parade that will proceed around the building and gardens on Casa Colina’s campus. Vendors, a petting zoo, bounce house, a DJ and other family centered activities will also be on-site to provide entertainment.

The Presenting Sponsors of Walk & Roll are Don and Marilyn Driftmier of West Covina and Mary Lou Jensen of Rancho Cucamonga. Snacks will be donated by U.S. Food Services.
