ACTRESS BONNIE HUNT TO HOST
CASA COLINA’S TRIBUTE TO COURAGE EVENT
IN HONOR OF LTC ROCCO ARMONDA, M.D.,
ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2008 IN INDUSTRY HILLS

Pomona, CA… Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation is pleased to announce that actress Bonnie Hunt will host its black-tie fundraising event, which this year will honor LTC Rocco Armonda, M.D., and the young soldiers he has helped on their journey to recovery after receiving traumatic brain injuries during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

LTC Rocco Armonda, M.D., is the Director of Cerebrovascular Surgery and Interventional Neuroradiology at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. He is a graduate of West Point, and served as Commander of the 207th Neurosurgery Team, aka “207th Skullcrackers,” whose motto came to be “Neuro-Rescue on the Battlefield.” They were the only forward deployed neurology team in Iraq from 2003 to 2004. In his work as a surgeon and physician, LTC Rocco Armonda, M.D., has exercised his skill, his knowledge, and his compassion to save the lives of hundreds of courageous, wounded warriors with traumatic brain injuries. He has continued to devote himself to patients during their post-surgery, medical recovery and short- and long-term rehabilitation. It is for this understanding – the need to not only save lives, but also to restore the dignity of the living – that Casa Colina has chosen him as its honoree for the Tribute to Courage. By honoring LTC Rocco Armonda, M.D., Casa Colina also shows respect to the thousands of young men and women who have suffered life-changing injuries in the service of our country.

The Presenting Sponsor of this year’s event is Neva M. Smith, in honor of her late husband Ralph L. Smith and his mother, the late Frances Eleanor Smith, who founded Casa Colina in 1936.

Bonnie Hunt will host the event. She is a versatile writer, director, producer and actress who has conquered the worlds of film, television and theater, always giving the audience something to think about. Hunt portrayed Renée Zellweger's sister in the film “Jerry Maguire.” Additional film credits include Tom Hanks' wife in “The Green Mile,” “Random Hearts” with Harrison Ford, and also starring roles in “Jumanji,” “Only You,” and “Cheaper by the Dozen 1 & 2.” Bonnie wrote, directed and also starred in the timeless film “Return to Me” for MGM. She has also lent her voice to Disney/Pixar animated hits “A Bug's Life,” “Monsters, Inc.,” and most recently starred and received a writing credit in “CARS.” This fall she will be the host of her own daytime talk show, “The Bonnie Hunt Show” on NBC.

Tribute to Courage will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort located at One Industry Hills Parkway in Industry Hills, CA. The reception will begin at 5:30 pm and dinner, program and dancing will follow at 7:00 pm. Black tie is optional. The J. Sterling Orchestra will provide musical entertainment.
