Eighth Annual Trends in Autism Conference to be Held March 14 & 15, 2009 in Claremont

Pomona, CA…Casa Colina will present 12 nationally known autism experts at its 8th Annual Trends in Autism Conference on Saturday, March 14th from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and Sunday, March 15th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The conference will be held at Galileo Hall on the Harvey Mudd College Campus located at 240 East Platt Blvd., Claremont, CA.

Conference speakers will discuss the latest research and treatment programs in the field of autism. For parents, health care professionals and educators, this is an opportunity to learn about the recent clinical developments, new research perspectives, treatment and education interventions.

This year’s conference will include two break-out sessions: Track A will address the needs of young children with autism and Track B will speak to the needs of adolescents. The addition of a focus on teens at this year’s conference responds to the needs of parents and clinicians who have seen children benefit from early identification and intervention, but now continue to need assistance to maintain and expand on their gains as they mature.

In addition to focusing on the needs of young children and adolescents with autism, the conference has sessions relevant to the lifelong challenges of people with autism. Jerry Newport, a sixty-year old author and advocate with Asperger’s Syndrome, will speak about his personal experiences and how he achieved success in his career and personal life.

The conference is vendorized by Regional Centers (vendor # PP1449), and parents of Regional Center clients are welcome to attend. Certificates of Attendance will be available, and 13 Continuing Education Units will be issued to speech/language pathologists, audiologists and nurses who attend both days of the conference. At the closing session, attendees will have the opportunity to interact, engage and exchange information with a panel of Autism Specialists. This conference is intended for adults only.

The cost to attend the two-day conference is $240 per person for early registration on or before February 20, 2009 and $300 per person thereafter. The deadline for registration is March 6, 2009. The price includes a continental breakfast, lunch and break snacks each day of the conference.
