Local Patients Now Have Access to Advanced Orthopedics, Spine Care, Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Neurology Services
AZUSA, Calif. – Casa Colina Azusa Center recently announced that it is offering local patients access to several new physician clinics specializing in orthopedics, spine care, neurology, neurosurgery and physical medicine and rehabilitation services.
"We are excited by the tremendous growth that our new Azusa campus is experiencing, and we will continue to enhance our medical services in order to meet the increasing demands of our served communities,” said Felice L. Loverso, Ph.D., President and CEO of Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation.
The Orthopedic Clinic is led by board-certified orthopedic surgeon Thomas Bryan, M.D., FAAOS. Dr. Bryan’s focus will be on diagnosing and treating patients, ages 14 and older, with sports injuries, general orthopedic conditions and arthritis. "From weekend warriors to 9-5 workers, we are excited to provide a comprehensive program that focuses on injury prevention and treatment” said Dr. Bryan. “Whether it is a knee or shoulder injury, our primary objective is to help our patients return to work, school or play and resume the active lifestyle they enjoyed before their injury.”
The Neurosurgery Clinic is spearheaded by board-certified neurosurgeons Ramin Amirnovin, M.D. and Jose L. Rodriguez, M.D. The multi-specialty clinic is dedicated to diagnosing and treating pediatric and adult patients afflicted with acute and chronic back pain. "The Casa Colina Azusa Center’s Neurosurgery Clinic was developed based on the growing demand from our local patients who needed access to surgical consultations and specialized spinal procedures,” said Dr. Amirnovin. “We are confident in our ability to provide patients high quality medical care that will improve their quality of life."
The Neurology Clinic is led by board certified neurologist Author An, M.D. who will focus on general neurology diagnoses and electromyography (EMG) studies for those ages 15 and older. “A stroke, multiple sclerosis, or movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease can significantly impact the quality of life for patients and their families if they do not receive appropriate medical care. We believe that our neurology clinic affords our patients the opportunity to more effectively manage their diagnosis,” said Dr. An.
The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic is directed by physiatrist Sepehr Khonsari, M.D. who will focus on providing advanced medical care to patients, ages 14 and older, diagnosed with musculoskeletal problems, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, back pain, EMG/NCS and more.
The Spine Care Clinic is also spearheaded by Dr. Khonsari and helps provide medical and rehabilitation services to patients suffering from spinal disorders. Referrals to alternative medicine care may also be available to patients being treated at the Clinic. Neurosurgeons Drs. Amirnovin and Rodriguez are also available for on-site surgical consultations.
“Our goal is to help our patients regain their independence, return to work and resume or improve their favorite sports and recreational pursuits as quickly as possible,” said Dr. Khonsari.

About Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation
Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation began in 1936 in Chino under the leadership of its founder Frances Eleanor “Mother” Smith and neighboring physicians to provide rehabilitative care to children afflicted with polio. In the late 1950s when polio was at epidemic proportions, a plan was developed to build a new hospital in Pomona where children could be cared for by experienced medical professionals. In 1960, the new hospital was completed and after the introduction of the polio vaccine, Casa Colina refocused its medical and physical rehabilitation services to concentrate on treating people of all ages and disabilities. In recent years, it has rebuilt and renovated its entire 20-acre Pomona campus to include a state of the art rehabilitation hospital, outpatient center, transitional living center, children’s center, adult day health care, imaging, surgery center, and other specialized services.
