THUNDER IN THE HOUSE MOTORCYCLE RIDE & FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT CASA COLINA’S REHABILITATION SERVICES FOR NATION’S HEROES, JUNE 19

POMONA, Calif.
– To help Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation provide optimum physical rehabilitation services for our nation’s heroes, “Friends of Casa” (F.O.C.), an independent group of motorcyclists, joins Casa Colina and co-sponsors ABATE Local 19, ABATE of California, Inc. and American Legion Riders to present Thunder in the House, Ride for Heroes on Saturday, June 19, 2010. The event will be held at the Chino Fairgrounds at 5410 Edison Ave. in Chino, and offers activities for motorcyclists and non-riders.

Proceeds from the event will be used to support physical rehabilitation services for local and national heroes that include military personnel, veterans, police officers, firefighters, and other first responders. Casa Colina is a non-profit organization that has served the community for nearly 75 years and provides inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational and speech rehabilitation services to more than 10,000 adults and children every year.

Motorcycle riding participants will enjoy a Poker Run starting at the Chino Fairgrounds at 9:00 a.m., a part of a scenic morning ride returning to the Chino Fairgrounds for the Musical Festival and Barbeque taking place from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. A cash prize of $400 will be awarded to the Poker Run’s “Best Hand” and $200 for the “Low Hand.” All motorcycle chapters are welcome to participate in the “Chapter Challenge,” which includes a cash prize of $500.

The Music Festival will feature live music by long-time event supporters and performers, the Reno Jones Band. In addition, the Phil Gates Band will perform and there will be vendors, a beer garden, a car show, a bike show, kid’s games, raffles, and much more.

About Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation
Casa Colina began in 1936 in Chino under the leadership of its founder Frances Eleanor “Mother” Smith and neighboring physicians to provide rehabilitative care to children recovering from polio. Polio was at epidemic proportions and by the 1950s plans were developed to build a new hospital in Pomona where children could be cared for by experienced medical professionals. By 1960, when the new hospital was completed, the new polio vaccine had wiped out the disease. Casa Colina refocused its medical and physical rehabilitation services to concentrate on treating people of all ages and disabilities. In the last decade, it has rebuilt and renovated its entire 20-acre Pomona campus to include a state of the art rehabilitation hospital, outpatient center, transitional living center, children’s center, adult day health care, imaging, surgery center and other specialized services treating 10,000 people a year.
