POMONA, Calif. 2/20/12 – Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation will host nationally known autism experts at its 10 th Annual Trends in Autism Conference on Saturday, March 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The conference will be at Western University of Health Sciences’ Health Education Center, Second Floor, Room 2005. The Health Education Center is at 795 East Second St., Pomona, CA 91766.

This year’s conference is proudly sponsored by Western University of Health Sciences and its Harris Family Center for Disability and Health Policy.

Conference speakers will discuss the latest research and treatment programs in the field of autism. For parents, health care professionals and educators, this is an opportunity to learn more about the recent clinical developments, new research perspectives, treatment and education interventions.

The conference’s primary objective is to provide its audience critical information and educational resources relevant to the lifelong challenges of people with autism. Conference topics include “Best Practices in Early Identification, Evaluation and Referral” presented by Margaret Bauman, M.D.; “Psychopharmacology in the Treatment of Autism” presented by Paul Brown, M.D.; “Thinking Translational Neuroscience and Autism Spectrum Disorders” presented by Pat Levitt, Ph.D.; “Law and Families: Patient Rights” presented by Mark Woodsmall, Esq. At the closing session, conference attendees will have the opportunity to interact, engage and exchange information with the panel of autism specialists.

Regional Centers is a conference vendor (vendor # PP1449) and parents of Regional Center clients are welcome to attend. Casa Colina is a provider of continuing education for Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology (SL-PAB PDP#138), and for Nursing (CEP 378).

Speech language pathologists, audiologists and nurses who attend the one-day conference will receive Certificates of Attendance for 7 continuing education units.
