The Casa Colina Spine Center is a unique program focused on reducing back pain for a variety of different conditions. When possible, non-surgical techniques are used to alleviate back pain, such as medication and physical therapy. Using patient reported outcome measures of physical function we are able to assess the effectiveness of our therapeutic interventions.
We use the Oswestry Disability Questionnaire to measure the degree to which back pain is impacting everyday life. Between admission to the spine clinic and the first follow-up appointment, we observe a clinically significant change the Oswestry score. This effect represents a meaningful reduction in the amount of patient-reported disability resulting from pain. Data was collected between 1/2010 - 12/2010
