Experience a Higher Quality of Life
Are you or a loved one no longer able to drive, work, or participate in
regular activities because of vision loss? Nearly 13 million Americans
– one out every six adults over the age of 45 – have significant
visual impairment. Whether you experience limitations in central vision,
peripheral vision, or blurred vision, we can help.
What is Low Vision?
If you have prescription lenses or contacts and still experience severe
limitations in vision processing, peripheral view, or eyesight, Casa Colina's
Low Vision Program can help. It is designed for individuals with:
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Parkinson's disease
- Macular Degeneration
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Retinitis Pigmentosa
A new perspective on eye care.
We offer a variety of innovative medical interventions and therapies to
help you make the most of your remaining vision. This program is overseen
by an optometrist who specializes in evaluating and treating patients
with low vision. The doctor will conduct a thorough eye exam to help determine
the most appropriate lenses, magnifiers, low vision aids, low vision devices
and design a customized therapy program to optimize your usable vision.
There's always a way to improve.
Working closely with the optometrist, an occupational therapist who is
also a low vision specialist will evaluate your current functional status
and show you how to master these new tools. You will learn how to:
- Make better use of your remaining vision through the latest technology
- Operate independent living aids
- Adjust to your surroundings at home for added safety and enjoyment
- Interact with your community and pursue outside activities again
