Casa Colina’s new Senior Evaluation Program is inviting local seniors, and their loved ones to attend a free community seminar on Thursday, February 25. Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine specialists Harvey D. Cohen, M.D., program medical director of Geriatrics, and Gimha Gunawardana, M.D., a specialist in Palliative Care, will discuss the health issues and warning signs for seniors who may suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, behavioral and intellectual changes, balance and gait problems, medications and more. In addition, Dr. Gunawardana will also address concerns about short and long term goals for loved ones caring for seniors.
Those in attendance will be presented information about Casa Colina's new outpatient Senior Evaluation Program. As part of the program, patients will undergo a comprehensive three-day evaluation period on an outpatient basis at Casa Colina in Pomona. A team of experts in geriatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neuropsychology, laboratory, dietician, physical and occupational therapy, audiology, vision, and other specialties will provide a thorough assessment of functional ability, psychological health, physical health and socio-environmental health. At the end of the evaluation, a comprehensive clinical report with recommendations will be given to the patient, family members and primary care physician.
