Centers of Excellence > Children's Services Center > Early Start Program
es, even infants and toddlers up to 3 years of age can benefit from comprehensive therapy. Our three Early Start Programs were designed to help children with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Hypotonia, Epilepsy, Autism, pre-maturity, and a host of other diagnoses, reach their greatest potential.

The Structured Peer Group, as with all our early intervention programs, is focused on developing the goal areas of gross motor, fine motor, sensory, communication, cognition, socialization/play and self-help. Children work individually and in groups with their parents and child therapy instructors as they rotate through a series of activity centers. Individual Service Plans help ensure that each child’s therapeutic goals are structured to meet his or her needs as well as those of his or her family.

Our Specialized Team of Autism-Related Therapies (S.T.A.R.T.) Program offers:

  • One-on-one instruction to build social, sensory-motor, play, communication, adaptation and cognitive skills.
  • Classes taught 2 to 3 times per week (for a total of 6 hours) by speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists and specialized child-therapy instructors.
  • Expertise from a behavioral specialist who may consult with you or the team to address problematic behaviors.
  • Insight about your child’s complex needs from the team through individual and group meetings at Children’s Services, your home and the community.

Lastly, our In-home Program is facilitated by specially trained Child Therapy Instructors to help introduce effective therapeutic activities right at home and in the community. This is for children under 18 months of age or those who are medically fragile
