Centers of Excellence > Casa Colina Hospital > Senior Evaluation
We understand what it's like to struggle with questions involving an aging loved one, which is why we created the Senior Evaluation Program to provide objective answers.

Led by a board-certified geriatrician, this innovative program is ideally suited for someone 65 and over who may have recently exhibited functional decline.

How does it work? Over the course of four days, perhaps more, a patient will be admitted for a complete battery of tests. These medical-specialty-specific evaluations are conducted by multidisciplinary clinical team members to determine the individual's health risks, functional activity, mental status, nutrition, balance and gait, and more.

Working as a team, they are able to pick up on things that could easily be overlooked without ongoing observation, and suggest the proper interventions. As a result, they often reduce the number of medications and resulting side effects, improve communication between loved ones, arrange for help in the home, and ease caretaker fatigue. In most instances, we improve patients' quality of life while allowing them to remain as independent as possible.
