Improved Physical Abilities Following Joint Replacement
Patients experience significant improvements in their physical abilities,
including their ability to walk, stand and accomplish activities of daily living.
Patients who have had a total joint replacement (hip and knee) report significant
improvement in their functional abilities, which promotes increased independence.
These improvements in functional abilities take place after an average
of 18 therapy visits for Total Knee Replacement (TKR) patients and 13
outpatient visits for Total Knee Hip (THR) patients.
-
Range 0-64 (Using the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS) data was
collected between 1/2010 – 9/2012; sample size for THR = 62, for
TKR = 114)

Reduced Disability in Patients with Shoulder Pain
Patients experience significant improvement in their physical abilities
as it pertains to their quality of life.
Patients with shoulder pain report a significant decrease in disability
following physical therapy.
This significant decrease in disability occurs following an average of
12 outpatient therapy visits.

by 40% after an average of 10 -13 outpatient visits.
After receiving pool and/or land therapy, patients' self reported level
of disability decreases by 23%.
