The Best in Joint Replacement Surgery
The Revive Joint Replacement Program provides patients with highly personalized
care led by a dedicated team of orthopedic surgeons, nurses and physical
therapists for quicker recoveries and improved outcomes.
Luis Corrales, M.D., Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
As Medical Director of the Revive Joint Replacement Program, Dr. Corrales
leads the clinical staff to ensure Revive Joint Replacement patients receive
the highest level of care possible before, during and after surgery. Dr.
Corrales and his team educate patients before surgery so they know what
to expect and how to prepare. These efforts to optimize health before
surgery ensure positive outcomes, minimize post-surgical pain and get
patients up and moving as quickly as possible.
Dr. Corrales earned degrees at UCLA and Harvard Medical School before completing
his residency at the UCSF Orthopaedic Residency Program. He continued
his surgical training through two prestigious orthopedic fellowships:
The Hip and Knee Joint Replacement and Reconstruction Surgery Fellowship
at the Malabar Orthopaedic Institute in Australia and The Trans-Tasman
Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Fellowship at Otago University in New Zealand.
“I love restoring the body’s function, alleviating pain and
improving quality of life. The most rewarding part of my work is forming
a connection with my patients and helping them become healthier, happier
and enjoy a more active life.” – Dr. Luis Corrales
Suzi Johnson, PT, MPT, OCS – Orthopedic Care Coordinator
As our Orthopedic Care Coordinator, Suzi Johnson’s core focus is
patient advocacy and working as a liaison between Casa Colina staff and
each patient’s orthopedic care team. In addition to facilitating
and instructing the Joint Replacement Education Class, Johnson helps patients
get all the equipment and services they need to continue their recovery
after discharge.
With 20 years of experience as an orthopedic physical therapist, Johnson
provides her patients with the highest level of care. She received her
Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from Pepperdine University and
a Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) from Western University of Health Sciences.
Johnson is also certified in Pilates and the McKenzie Method of Mechanical
Diagnosis (MDT) for the spine.
Monica M. Scholfield, BSN, RN - Pre-Admission Testing Nurse
Upon entering the Revive Joint Replacement Program, patients will meet
with Nurse Monica Scholfield for Pre-Operative Admissions Testing. The
goal of this process is to enhance the overall patient experience by identifying
any pre-operative risk factors and potential post-operative complications.
To optimize the health and wellness of our patients, Scholfield reviews
each patient’s past medical/surgical history and current medications,
performs an EKG and ensures pre-op lab work is completed and evaluated
by our physician team prior to surgery.
Cynthia Lopez, NP-C, ONC – Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner
Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner Cynthia Lopez collaborates with the Revive
Joint Replacement Program’s interdisciplinary team to treat and
monitor patients. Lopez also educates patients and their families on what
to expect during the recovery process. As an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner,
it is Lopez’s primary objective to ensure patients experience minimized
pain, restored independence and can return to the daily activities they
enjoy as quickly as possible.
Penny Eccles, PT, DPT - Physical Therapist
Leading the Revive Joint Replacement physical therapy team, Penny Eccles
helps patients regain their strength, mobility and independence following
joint replacement surgery. After a patient is discharged, Eccles arranges
for patients to continue physical therapy in an outpatient setting, ensuring
they continue to gain strength throughout their recovery.
A physical therapist for 34 years, Eccles graduated with a Bachelor of
Science in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University Medical School
and went on to receive her Doctor of Physical Therapy from A.T. Still
University. A faculty member at Azusa Pacific University, Eccles continues
