Pomona, CA… Casa Colina’s Board of Directors and President
& CEO, Felice L. Loverso, Ph.D., have announced that they will dedicate
Casa Colina Hospital’s medical library to the memory of Claremont
resident, Robert A. Keith, Ph.D., who passed away in 2006.
Dr. Keith began his affiliation with Casa Colina in the 1950’s where
it was originally located in Chino, serving children with polio. He began
volunteering as a clinical psychologist and soon found a special interest
in the organization and the effectiveness of rehabilitation services,
which eventually led him to developing Casa Colina’s Research Department.
He became a pioneer in the study of rehabilitation outcomes and the development
of the “Functional Independence Measure” (“FIM”
Score), an international standard in healthcare. Dr. Keith mentored generations
of graduate students, as he was also a member of the faculty of the Claremont
Graduate University, where he had a long and productive academic career.
In his memory, Casa Colina will dedicate its medical library in the new
Casa Colina Hospital as the Robert A. Keith Medical and Research Library
on Tuesday, January 9 at 2pm.
Reporters and newspaper photographers are welcome to attend this special
dedication ceremony, which will be held inside Casa Colina Hospital at
the library. Please contact Casa Colina prior to the event to obtain press
admittance at 909/596-7733, Ext. 2209.
