Casa Colina Hosts Eleventh Annual Trends in Autism Conference in Pomona on Saturday, April 6


Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation will host its 11th Annual Trends in Autism Conference on Saturday, April 6th from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The conference will be held at Western University of Health Sciences’ Health Education Center, Second Floor in Room 2005. The Health Education Center is located at 701 East Second Street, Pomona, CA 91766.

This year’s conference is proudly sponsored for the second consecutive year by Western University of Health Sciences and its Harris Family Center for Disability and Health Policy.

Conference speakers will discuss the latest research and treatment programs in the field of autism. The conference provides an opportunity for parents, health care professionals and educators to learn more about the latest clinical developments, research perspectives, and treatment and education interventions.

The conference’s primary objective is to provide participants with critical information and educational resources relevant to the lifelong challenges of people with autism. Conference topics include “Children with Autism Have Childhood Medical Issues Too” presented by Margaret Bauman, M.D.; “Translating the New Autism Insurance Law Today and Into the Future” presented by Louis Vismara, M.D.; “What to Ask For in an Assessment and Why” presented by Robert Patterson, Psy.D.; “An Inter-professional Approach to Autism: Oh the Possibilities!” presented by Dee Schilling, P.T., Ph.D., and Kristy Remick-Waltman, O.D., F.C.O.V.D; and “Life In and Slightly to the Right of the Autism Spectrum: Observations on Promoting Success for People with Autism” presented by Stephen Shore, Ed.D. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to interact, engage and exchange information with the panel of autism specialists during the closing session.

Regional Center is a conference vendor (Vendor # PP1449) and parents of Regional Center clients are welcome to attend. Casa Colina is a provider of continuing education for Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology (SL-PAB PDP#138), and for Nursing (CEP 378).

Speech language pathologists, audiologists and nurses who attend the one-day conference will receive Certificates of Attendance for 7 contact hours.
