Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare is pleased to announce
that the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has provided the Casa Colina
Children’s Services Center (CSC) with a grant in the amount of $20,000.
The CSC provides therapeutic and rehabilitative services to children and
families who are at risk for or have acquired developmental delays in
health, language and communication, cognitive development, and social-emotional
development.
“We are grateful for the ongoing support of the San Manuel Band
of Mission Indians, particularly during a year when funding priorities
have shifted so dramatically due to Covid-19,” said Michele Alaniz,
director of the Children’s Services Center. “These funds will
help us provide Early Intervention services to these at-risk children
at a critical time in their development, giving them the greatest chance
to build the social-emotional, cognitive, and self-help skills that will
improve quality of life for them and their families.”
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians focuses on giving that supports
prevention and health information projects, directs health services for
those in need, improves health outcomes, and addresses issues of particular
concern locally and with Native American communities.
The Casa Colina Children’s Services Center provides comprehensive
services designed to help family members understand the special needs
of their children as well as how to enhance their development. As in years
past, grant funds from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians will subsidize
therapeutic and rehabilitative services for children with physical and
developmental disabilities whose families may be under-insured or uninsured.
During the past year, the CSC served nearly 700 children over the course
of more than 18,000 visits.
CSC programs offer a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to treatment
of children and teenagers with physical and developmental disabilities.
CSC clinicians work diligently to involve caregivers in therapy, so that
new skills are carried over into the home and community. The intended
results of CSC programs include providing families greater access to therapeutic
programs and services that meet the needs of the children, helping children
reach their health and developmental milestones, and improving awareness
of services, support networks, and other resources for these families.
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has generously supported Casa Colina
since 2002, providing hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding that
has helped Casa Colina to offer expanded services for children and adults
in need of medical-surgical and rehabilitative care.
