COVID-19 FAQs
If I need medical care and it’s not related to Covid-19, can I still get an appointment with my doctor?
Yes. Casa Colina is maintaining normal hours of operation, and patients are encouraged to contact their doctors for their care needs. This includes appointments in our Physician Clinics, Outpatient Center, Children’s Services Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center, Audiology Center, and Azusa Center.
Telehealth appointments are available for some services.

What about regular preventative care? Is Casa Colina taking appointments?
Yes. Casa Colina is maintaining normal hours of operation, and patients are encouraged to contact our various centers for their outpatient care needs. These services include:
- Outpatient therapy
- Physician clinics
- Imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI, etc.)
- Mammograms
- Audiology and hearing aid fittings
- Children’s services
- Colonoscopies
- Laboratory work

What is Casa Colina doing to make my visit to my doctor or therapy appointment safe?
Casa Colina strictly follows guidelines provided by federal, state, and local health authorities. We have implemented several measures to protect the health and safety of outpatients during the Covid-19 crisis, including:
- Prescreening patients and staff for Covid-19 symptoms upon entry, including temperature monitoring and symptoms questionnaire
- Requiring patients and staff to wear masks upon entry and providing them when needed
- Enforcing social distancing policies in our gyms and waiting rooms
- Investing considerably in additional personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies
- Enhancing cleaning procedures and increasing our Housekeeping staffing
- Enacting a temporary ”Restricted Visitor Policy”
- Enacting strict hand hygiene protocols for patients and staff
Do I need to wear a mask for my outpatient appointment?
Yes, masks are required for entry. Please continue to wear this mask throughout check-in and your appointment, until you have exited the facility. We encourage patients to bring their own mask from home. You will be given a medical-grade mask to wear if you do not have one.
Will my therapist wear a mask while I am being treated?
Yes. Your therapist will wear a medical-grade mask throughout the duration of your session.
Is social distancing practiced in all treatment areas, including the gyms and pools?
Social distancing is practiced in all areas of the Casa Colina campus, except when necessary for clinicians to provide treatment. Signage is placed throughout all waiting and treatment areas as a reminder to patients and staff.
I understand Casa Colina has a Restricted Visitors Policy. What if I need the assistance of a caregiver to get to my appointment?
Individuals accompanying patients must wait outside the facility unless required for the safety of the patient or requested by the healthcare provider. Caregivers may be allowed entry for these purposes with permission from Outpatient staff.
What if I’m not feeling well? May I still attend my appointment if I wear a mask?
We ask that you stay home until you are feeling better. If you are sick, please call us to reschedule your appointment. Please call 909/596-7733 and select “0” to speak to our operator, who can direct your call to the appropriate party.
If a family member or someone I’m sheltering in place with has Covid-19, but I feel fine, may I still attend my appointment?
You can resume your scheduled appointment(s) once 14 days have passed since resolution of their symptoms, including fever without fever-reducing medication, or once that person has tested negative for Covid-19.
How long should I wait to make an appointment if I had Covid-19 symptoms or a positive Covid-19 test?
You can return to Casa Colina for your care once 14 days have passed since the resolution of symptoms. This includes resolution of fever without fever-reducing medication.
May I accompany my child into their appointment?
Yes. Children may be accompanied by one (1) parent or legal guardian to their appointment.
Is it safe to stay at Casa Colina for inpatient rehabilitation?
Yes. Casa Colina strictly follows guidelines provided by federal, state, and local health authorities. We have implemented several measures to protect the health and safety of inpatients during the Covid-19 crisis, including:
- Screening each patient for Covid-19 before admission
- Prescreening patients and staff for Covid-19 symptoms upon entry to all our locations, including temperature monitoring and symptoms questionnaire
- Distributing medical-grade masks to patients and staff upon entry
- Enforcing social distancing policies throughout Casa Colina Hospital
- Investing considerably in additional personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies
- Enhancing cleaning procedures and increasing Housekeeping staffing
- Enacting a temporary Restricted Visitors Policy
- Enacting strict hand hygiene protocols for patients and staff
Is Casa Colina open for surgery and if so is it safe to have surgery right now?
Yes. Casa Colina is currently performing some elective surgeries on a case-by-case basis. Casa Colina has implemented numerous safety measures to maximize the safety of surgery patients. These include:
- Testing each patient for Covid-19 before each non-emergent surgery or procedure
- Re-designing the pre-admission testing process to limit patient travel throughout the hospital
- Prescreening patients and staff for Covid-19 symptoms upon entry to all our locations, including temperature monitoring and symptoms questionnaire
- Distributing medical-grade masks to patients and staff upon entry
- Enforcing social distancing policies throughout Casa Colina Hospital
- Investing considerably in additional personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies
- Enhancing cleaning procedures and increasing Housekeeping staffing
- Enacting a temporary Restricted Visitors Policy
- Enacting strict hand hygiene protocols for patients and staff
Will I be tested for Covid-19 prior to my elective surgery or procedure?
Yes. Testing is completed at Casa Colina 3-4 days before your surgical procedure. You will be asked to isolate at home after your test until your surgery date. (For certain emergent procedures, patients may not be tested.)
Is Casa Colina testing patients for Covid-19?
Casa Colina is testing select patients for Covid-19. This includes patients having elective surgery and some inpatients.
Is Casa Colina testing community members/non-patients for Covid-19?
Casa Colina currently is not offering testing to non-patient members of the community. For guidance on testing sites, please visit the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Covid-19 testing page.
