In July 2007, just before his 35th birthday, Captain Patrick Horan was serving in Iraq and sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his head. Doctors could not predict what his chances of function and independence might be. He and his wife, Patty, found Casa Colina and he soon began rehabilitation for severe traumatic brain injury. Fortunately, Pat made remarkable progress at Casa Colina’s Transitional Living Center and was able to return home. Years later, Patrick continues to make progress. “Casa Colina provided the perfect place, staff, and care for us,” says Patty. “They gave us hope, expert brain injury care, and a truly successful transition home.”
