Casa Colina Hospital and Center for Healthcare is proud to offer recreational therapy as part of our broad continuum of care for patients undergoing medical and rehabilitation treatment. All of our recreational therapy programming is led by licensed, trained professionals and is overseen by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
Recreational therapy is a unique therapeutic approach that uses recreational activities to enrich the psychological and physical well-being of individuals recovering from disabling injuries or illnesses. In addition to its more obvious physical and social benefits, recreational therapy has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety in individuals who are recovering from injury or illness and to help them build confidence as they adjust to their lives during and after recovery.
Studies show recreational activities can help individuals with disabling conditions to improve physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially, increasing independence and improving overall quality of life. Recreational therapy activities at Casa Colina include adaptive sports, music, wood-working, community outings, and much more.
