Joint Commission and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Award Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification to Casa Colina

Joint Commission and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Award Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification to Casa Colina

Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. One of several accreditations earned by Casa Colina, the Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Given in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), this specialty certification focuses on the entire patient care experience, from pre-surgical consultation to the actual joint replacement procedure, and then rehabilitation activities and follow-up visits with the orthopedic surgeon. As of this publication date, Casa Colina is one of just 138 facilities nationwide to receive this distinction, the highest certification recognized by the AAOS.

Casa Colina’s award-winning Revive Joint Replacement Program is nationally renowned for a minimally invasive approach, where orthopedic surgeons use state-of-the-art robotic-assisted technology that minimizes pain, accelerates recovery, and leads to better outcomes.

“Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification recognizes healthcare organizations who are committed to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, the Joint Commission. “We commend Casa Colina for using this certification to strengthen its program structure for orthopedic patients.”

Casa Colina underwent rigorous onsite reviews to achieve this accreditation, filing a special petition for consideration because it does not offer emergent services. A team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated Casa Colina’s compliance with related certification standards and conducted onsite observations and interviews before offering the accreditation.

“Casa Colina Hospital is thrilled to be recognized for this prestigious distinction,” says Felice Loverso, PhD, Casa Colina President and CEO. “The Revive Joint Replacement Program provides an exemplary, start-to-finish care experience that always puts the patient first and achieves remarkable, lasting outcomes. Since the program’s inception in 2017, the Revive team has worked tirelessly to earn this accreditation, and all of us at Casa Colina are so proud.”

The Revive Joint Replacement Program previously received multiple recognitions from Healthgrades for Joint Replacement Excellence, including Five-star awards in Total Knee and Total Hip Replacement, placing Casa Colina Hospital among the top 10% for joint replacement nationwide.
