June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, and it’s an important occasion to remind our patients, families, and broader Casa Colina community about Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
Chances are, someone you know may be at risk for this disease. Currently, approximately 6.7 million Americans aged 65+ are living with Alzheimer’s or related conditions. Symptoms are persistent, worsen over time, and severely disrupt a person's ability to function at home or in their work or social environments.
The prevalence of Alzheimer's is projected to nearly triple by the year 2060. In 2023, the total cost of caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease was estimated to have exceeded $345 billion annually—representing a major burden on the American medical system. But more importantly, Alzheimer’s disease presents a severe emotional, social, and financial impact on the patients and families dealing with this difficult condition.
At Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare, we are here to help you navigate this complex diagnosis.
We offer an array of medical and therapeutic services to guide you or your loved one through the complicated road through Alzheimer’s disease or other neurologic illnesses. Our licensed clinical experts understand the specialized needs of patients with these conditions. Here to advance their care, Casa Colina’s rehabilitation professionals include board-certified physiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, nursing staff, case managers, and other specialists.
We’re also home to true experts, including Doctors of Neuropsychology and Neurologic Clinical Specialists. To address the unique needs of patients with Alzheimer’s, our specialized neuropsychologists evaluate memory, problem-solving, communication, and more to determine the extent of any deficits, potential sources or causes, and interventions that may work to address them.
We understand the needs of patients and families undergoing the life-changing circumstances of Alzheimer’s disease, and we are here to guide you through it.
