Tribute to Courage 2024

The Casa Colina Foundation would like to thank all who attended and supported our Tribute to Courage Gala March 9, 2024, at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel and Conference Center in Pomona. Thanks to your generous gifts, Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare is better able to maintain its commitment to providing subsidized care for those who need but may not be able to afford our specialized services. We extend a special thank you to our honorees, Samantha Bosco and Kathleen Grace, as well as to our Impact Award recipient, Selena Gomez, and the evening's gracious emcee, Elex Michaelson. We hope you had a wonderful time, and we look forward to seeing you again next year! If you missed the event but would still like to support us, please click here.

Honorees

Samantha Bosco

Gold-medal-winning Paralympic cyclist Samantha Bosco was involved in a crash on a training ride in the summer of 2021, sustaining major injuries that would jeopardize not only her cycling career but her ability to function in everyday life. Years earlier, following an unsuccessful surgery for a childhood leg complication, Sam had already learned to function with a lower-extremity disability. So she set an ambitious goal for herself: a full return to cycling. With the help of Casa Colina's comprehensive continuum of rehabilitative care, Sam overcame a traumatic brain injury, balance and other sensory issues, and more to become the 2022 World Champion in the C4 time trial and road race at the UCI Para-Cycling World Championships, as well as the World Cup Series Overall winner. To this day, she continues to race competitively at the highest levels of paracycling.

Kathleen Grace

In June of 2020, having just released an acclaimed album, jazz vocalist and contemporary music instructor Kathleen Grace suffered a traumatic brain injury following a fall alone in her home. For the next eight months she navigated a long, uncertain recovery, including cardiovascular issues and complications from POTS. Luckily, Kathleen found out about Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare. Kathleen underwent months of Day Treatment at Casa Colina's Transitional Living Center to address memory and other cognitive deficits, fatigue and sensory issues, and crippling anxiety, all in the hopes of returning to the life she had made for herself. Now, nearly four years later, she has returned to music, teaching, and performing, rebuilding herself in the process and finding new inspiration in music and in life.

Recipient of the Casa Colina Impact Award

Selena Gomez

Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare's Impact Award recognizes a person or organization for their positive, lasting contributions to the fields of healthcare and rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities.

The winner of this year’s inaugural Impact Award is a champion for inclusion and mental health awareness. Actress, singer, and producer Selena Gomez founded Rare Beauty, a cosmetics company dedicated to promoting inclusivity in beauty products. She is also the founder of the Rare Impact Fund, a charitable organization committed to youth mental health and self-acceptance. We are proud to recognize Ms. Gomez with this well-deserved honor, which she will accept virtually at the event.
