Casa Colina’s specialized residential care facilities, Apple Valley and Rancho Piño Verde, are dedicated to supporting individuals with traumatic or acquired brain injuries (TBI or ABI). These safe, supportive environments are designed to help them regain independence, build essential life skills, and enjoy meaningful, fulfilling lives while honoring their dignity and self-esteem. These compassionate, individualized care environments are designed to foster growth, well-being, community connection, and engagement through activities that support recovery and independence.

Your client or loved one will be in caring, capable hands 24 hours a day, under the supervision of board-certified medical director, Dr. Ram Kamath, and supported by a staff of professional administrators, nurses, neuropsychologists, case managers, dietitians, activity coordinators, and residential aides—all trained in crisis prevention intervention and behavioral management. Residents also have access to Casa Colina’s complete continuum of medical and rehabilitative care.

Apple Valley and Rancho Piño Verde both offer:

  • Respite, intermediate, and long-term residential care
  • Structured Living and Semi-Independent Living programs

Apple Valley

Casa Colina at Apple Valley is in a vibrant urban setting serving people with TBI or ABI. This beautiful campus offers a peaceful place to call home, with the stunning San Bernardino Mountains as a backdrop, and serves a broad range of functional abilities—from those requiring maximum supervision and full ADA accessibility to residents capable of semi-independent living, including those who drive to work or school.

Apple Valley’s amenities include:

  • Early California/Mission-style architecture on a four-acre, fully fenced, tree-lined campus accented with lush desert flora
  • Beautifully decorated, light-filled interiors
  • Spacious communal living spaces, including a large kitchen and dining area
  • Specially designed recreation and exercise room

Rancho Piño Verde

Casa Colina at Rancho Piño Verde is nestled beneath the beautiful mountain skyline of Southern California’s high desert. Serving clients since 1989, this tranquil, low-stimulus setting is ideal for residents with additional behavioral challenges, and residents ranging from fully dependent in need of full ADA accessibility, to semi-independent living. Rancho Piño Verde’s expansive 20-acre rural campus, with its airy, light-filled interiors, comfortable private and semi-private bedrooms, and extensive outdoor amenities, makes it a secure and serene place to call home.

Rancho Piño Verde’s amenities include:

  • Spanish/Ranch-style architecture on 20 rural acres
  • 26 licensed beds for structured living
  • 5 non-licensed beds for semi-independent living
  • 1,600-square-foot recreation center with satellite television, arcade games, table games, and gym
  • Access to a local community pool
  • Two large fishing ponds
  • Pasture with farm animals
  • Rural environment that minimizes elopement risk

Payment

These referral-based programs accept payment through workers’ compensation, regional centers, health care trust, medical/long-term insurers, Department of Behavioral Health, Department of Mental Health, and private pay.

Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare is pleased to contract with various Regional Centers for some services. The Department of Developmental Services is committed to providing mechanisms for the resolution of problems and complaints when they arise. The Consumer Rights Complaint Process is a mechanism to be used when an individual consumer, or any representative acting on behalf of a consumer, believes that any right has been wrongly or unfairly denied by a regional center, developmental center, or a service provider. Consumers have the right to pursue appeals via the Department of Developmental Services appeals page or by phone at 916/654-1987.
