Steven Bast, MD – Program Medical Director

As both a collegiate athlete at the University of Southern California and a professional baseball player for the Boston Red Sox, Steven Bast, MD experienced his share of orthopedic injuries and surgeries. After a career-ending elbow surgery took him out of professional baseball, a strong interest in sports rehabilitation and orthopedics led Dr. Bast to pursue his medical degree at USC, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at LAC+USC. Following his training, he was involved with the care of several Los Angeles area professional sports teams, including the Lakers, Dodgers, Ducks, and Angels. A local student-athlete who attended Damien High School in La Verne, Dr. Bast finds his career in sports medicine to be purposeful and rewarding as he helps to prevent athletes from experiencing career-ending injuries, whether through rehabilitation or orthopedic surgery. Dr. Bast completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic, and he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedics and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
