All work and no play? No way. At Casa Colina, we encourage our PM&R residents to take advantage of a dynamic calendar of events, which includes galas, outdoor activities, fundraisers, free seminars, and more. Our residents participate at many of our outings and get to know the Casa Colina community from a personal as well as professional standpoint.
Exciting events and volunteer opportunities include:
Outdoor Adventures Program: Exciting outdoor recreation and adaptive sports activities that challenge
Casa Colina patients and clients to push their limits and live life more
fully. Year-round activities for people of all ages and abilities include
skydiving, surfing, skiing, horseback riding, and much more.
Beat the Heat Sports Camp: A unique three-day sports and recreation event that features adaptive sports like wheelchair rugby, kayaking, and more for individuals with disabilities. Proceeds support the Casa Colina Outdoor Adventures and Wheelchair Sports program.
Tribute to Courage Gala: A black-tie charity event celebrating Casa Colina’s courageous
rehabilitation patients and the clinicians who care for them. Past gala
hosts have included actor Bonnie Hunt and author Stephen King.
Annual Golf Tournament: Casa Colina hosts the Casa Colina Outdoor Adventures Golf Classic in Memory of Bill Haaker each fall to raise funds for programs and services. The event offers an inclusive day of golf, meals, and other festivities.
Employee Recognition & Holiday Party: Casa Colina’s annual Employee Recognition & Holiday Party is like no party you’ve ever been to—a spectacular night of glitz, great food, and amazing prize giveaways with more than 1,000 employees and guests!
Plus, you’ll have access to a year-long calendar of free educational forums and employee wellness series, and you can stay on top of the latest cutting-edge medical research with lunchtime seminars offered by the Casa Colina Research Institute.
And, when you need to relax and refuel, the Casa Colina Café offers delicious homemade meals, coffee and tea, pastries, salad bar, deserts, and more, right here on campus. PM&R residents and faculty often enjoy meals together on our spacious and sunny outdoor patio.
Closer to home, you’re just a short walk or bike ride to a number of historic shopping and dining districts, including the Claremont Village, Downtown Pomona’s Antique Row, and Old Town La Verne. Whether it’s live music, craft beer, decadent brunch, or a local farmer’s market, you’ll find it in our bustling community.
It’s true. Whether it’s outdoor activities or world-class entertainment, all that Southern California has to offer is within easy reach.
Our sunny Southern California locale means more than great weather year-round—you’re just a short ride away from vibrant Downtown Los Angeles, picturesque beaches, pro sports venues, Disneyland, and so much more. The nearby San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains offer skiing, snowboarding, camping, hiking, and mountain biking opportunities for both the casual outdoorsman and seasoned veteran. Casa Colina typically enjoys a sunny and mild climate, with average highs near 70 degrees in the winter. You can snowboard in the winter, surf in the summer, and enjoy sunshine year-round.
